Become a Volunteer

There are many ways to volunteer that can help to increase gender diversity in STEM fields. WWEST will post volunteer opportunities on this page when we have them; however, just because we aren’t looking for volunteers doesn’t mean there aren’t ways for you to get involved! Below are some resources to help you find a way to get involved and make a difference.

We recognize that we live, work, play and participate in community, located on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territories of the First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples, each of which possess their own unique traditions and history, here on this land that we now refer to as British Columbia and the Yukon.

We acknowledge the importance of the truth and reconciliation commission of Canada’s Call to action, the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples and the BC Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.

In all our work, we are committed to ensuring Indigenous people, women and and other under-represented persons have equal opportunity to participate in, explore and engage in STEM activities and initiatives in a manner that recognizes and respects Indigenous Cultures and Traditions.

WWEST is housed, and we acknowledge that the land on which we work and gather as a team at UBCO is on the unceded territory of the Syilx (Okanagan) Peoples. We are grateful to learn from and collaborate on these lands.
